Excavating food

How do we perceive the interpersonal relationship between self and ‘other’ through food in our everyday lives, both in the public and private spheres? The art project “Excavating food” attempts to explore the very personal and intimate aspects, as well as the socio-political facets of our relationship with what is perceived as “food”. The curatorial version of the project will offer another level of visibility using the shop window (of or.artspace, in this case).
The shop window will bring to the forefront, in public space, aspects of relationships with food that otherwise remain hidden. The following questions are therefore at the core of this project: what is food; and what does it mean to eat?
Each presentation will provide different answers. From February to June, the shop window of or.artspace will change every month. The dates will be announced in advance.
Opening: 17 February 2024.
A series of six presentations will conclude in June with a lunch in the form of an edible art installation.
Participants: Sofia Grigoriadou, Dimitra Kondylatou, Apostolos Lampropoulos, Alkisti-Lara Papadaki, Elpida Rikou, Kyveli Lignou-Tsamantani.
